Rotting blog again.
So sorry. Been busy lately with a lot of things esp. schools. School started. Started to prepare things already for end-of-year exams. Time fly so fast, less than 1 year and we are sitting for O level. _____!
OBS had just past and I already missing Isk and mates. That 5D4N camp was tremendously fun but at the same time tired and torturing. 2D not bathing, only powder bath, was very disgusting but it shows how a survivor survive. My legs and hands were full of mosquitos’ bites.
The very first day when every of the school leaders assemble with their teacher in-charge at Pulau Ubin. Felt restless it is. Never want to leave my home when I did not even bring my bantal busuk along with me. Mr D sent us there by school bus. There was Choong Boon Secondary, Westwood Secondary, Unity Secondary, Queensway Secondary…. My heart felt heavy when I left home though feeling excited. Soon we were asked to board a boat to our camp site, Camp2.
Reached and we were separated to our own groups. My group consists of 16 leaders exclude the instructor. Namely; Amalina, Aqilah, Nadyra, Zaki, Mei Yan, Claudia, Hannah, Hasif, Fariz, Aziz, He Sheng, Ailin, Desmond, Maira and Iziyan. They were from JYSS, CBSS and USS. After the introduction of each of the instructor, we went on with our orientation. We played games that make us bonded together as a group. I can’t deny that on the first day we were already close to each other. We also had our group photo at the rock wall. Da Gamma was my group name.
Proceed on to the next activity that was belaying. Soon it began to drizzle. After the belaying activity, we learn to set up tent. For the whole 4N we had to sleep in a tent of 5 each. When night fall, we had not much in mind except for a request; night walk in the jungle. We had to crawl in a tunnel from one end to another. It’s squeezy and we have to switch place and my leg were cramped. It wasn’t scary as it thought. After that, we wash up and went to bed.
In the morning we had rock climbing. I made it to the first top. It was tough though with the help of friends, I could make it :D ty! Kayaking was next. We had our basic kayak lesson first before proceeding to the sea. Capsizing was fun but it wasn’t up to expectation when we had to partner with the one which we wanted. The 1star leaders have to be partner with the one which have no ability to kayak. I partner with Amalina. After the short lesson, we kayak to our 2nd camp site. It was 500m away from camp site 2. Exciting but tired though. Loading kayaks to the shore where there were many sandflies. Irritating. Before dark came, we had to set up our tents and then have our dinner. 1st day never bath; uneasy. I miss home already.
It was a tough day that day where NI-RA-HI-DA [Nila Utama, Raffles, Hillary and Da Gamma] was supposed to kayak 12km along Pulau Ubin perimeter. Along the way, we met obstacles such as storm, big waves and even people cap sizing in the middle of the sea. Through these challenges, it shows how tough and persevere we could be as a team.
Loaded the kayak. Went off to sent tent and dinner making. Sardines, rice and chicken ham was what we eat. Mosquitoes were biting everywhere. That was the day I could not forget how tiring it was.
4th day was trekking back to camp 2. I was happy as the next day it was the day went we go home. On that morning, we had our surprise from the instructors; quarry jump. I was so happy that at last, we could jump in pure water not SALT water. It’s been 2 days since we’ve not shower ourselves with water except that with powder; powder bath.
Next trek. Trek to Ubin village was a disaster. I felt giving up half way but still, I persevere on. Stayed at Ubin village about half to one hour. Finding facts about Pulau Ubin was a WOW. After whole of that we trek on non stop till we reached our destination where the other 3 groups were waiting for us. Radio was switched on and nursery rhymes were played all along the journey.
The dinner was awesome! We cooked and dumped everything what we had in the frying pan and it turn out wonderful. It’s a challenge between the groups. It was the most fun dinner ever. All groups were the champion! teehee.
It was the last day of my journey in OBS camp. Was sad though; I’m going to miss my mates that include Iskandar!! Haha Bought some stuff; polo-T. Went back home with the huge backpack. Shoulder was cracking hard.
Left nothing behind but only footsteps :DDDD
